MamMam’s Fall Off The Bone Ribs

Barbecue. The epitome of southern cuisine. From beef to chicken to pork, barbecue has always been the go-to summer staple food. But don’t limit your indulgence exclusively to the hottest months of the year. This recipe is to die for all year round.

Whoa, there partner. Don’t go uncovering your grill just yet. This recipe is actually cooked from the comfort and convenience of your kitchen.

You may be wondering, “Ribs with no grill? How are they any good?” But what you should be wondering is “Why haven’t I been making ribs this way my whole life?!”

Growing up, we rarely went out to eat. But when we did, I would order ribs. When we would eat at home, I always LOVED the ribs we had, and anyone else who tried them would absolutely RAVE about them. But every single time I ordered ribs at a dine in, I would quit half-way through a meal, disappointed that it didn’t measure up to the ribs my mom always made. Restaurant ribs can be dry, bland, and quite frankly, not even worth the change in my car’s cup holder.

As an adult, I realized the secret to a perfectly cooked rack resided in my mother, and without hesitation, she shared this legendary recipe with me.

Surprisingly, it was SO much easier than I expected. No coals, wood chips or lighting fleeting flames. All I needed was 3 ingredients, tin foil and a baking pan.

Now, anytime we have a get together, if we don’t serve a Chick-Fil-A nugget tray, we serve these ribs. My friends go nuts over how tender they are and soon enough, yours will, too.

In fact, these ribs are so deliciously moist and fall-off-the-bone tender that we always serve them with a fork.

Have you ever eaten ribs with a fork?! If you haven’t, then you haven’t had real ribs.

At only THREE ingredients, I am willing to bet that most of this recipe is already sitting in your house as you read this, so what’s stopping you? Go pick out a rack of ribs and get going!


– 1 rack Baby back ribs
– 2 Tbsp Cajun seasoning
– 1/2 cup BBQ sauce, separated


1.) Preheat the oven to 275°F.
2.) Place rack into baking pan. You may have to cut rack in two halves to fit most residential oven pans.
3.) Rub Cajun seasoning on ribs. Be sure to spread well.
4.) Cover entire pan in tin foil. Try to “tent” it up so that the foil isn’t touching any of the meat.
5.) Place in preheated oven and bake for 5 hours*.
6.) Once five hours is up, remove ribs from oven and remove foil.
7.) Coat ribs with BBQ sauce.
8.) Switch oven to broil.
9.) Broil ribs in oven, uncovered, to caramelize sauce. Keep watch to ensure ribs don’t burn. Roughly five minutes.
10.) Remove from oven and serve hot with side of choice.

Home Maker Tip:

I usually use this recipe for baked potatoes when I make these because they can cook at the same time and temperature as the ribs. I put them in after the ribs have been in the oven for one hour, and I take them out when I take the ribs out to coat in the sauce.
