Kelly chose our bread this month at the Bread Baking Babes this month

As she put it, “Something soft and easy for March”. She chose a Potato, Thyme and Goat Cheese Pavé from World Breads from Pain de Campagne to Paratha. For reasons I will share, I chose to adapt that recipe to make a Potato & Paneer Pavé. Pavé is French for cobblestone. Pain Pavé are smaller, somewhat flat French bread that are slightly rounded on top. They’re generally shaped as squares/ rectangles, scored sometimes in a criss-cross manner and supposedly resemble cobblestones. Sometimes, Pavé also describes a slightly taller irregularly shaped bread. The bread is pretty straight forward. Proof the yeast (unless using instant yeast), and mix all the ingredients into a soft, smooth dough. Then let it rise till double, shape...

~ Pantastic Sizzling One-Sheet-Pan Chicken Fajitas ~

Sheet pan meals have become remarkably popular over the past two-three years.  The concept of tossing an array of ingredients together, scattering them around in a single layer on one pan, then roasting them in a hot oven, appeals to both novice and experienced cooks.  The prep time is reasonably short, and, once the food's in the oven, the hands are free to tend to other things.  If the sheet pan has been lined with aluminum foil first, clean up -- uh, there is almost no cleanup. Coffee Chocolate Crinkles to fall in love with [VIDEO]

These Coffee Chocolate Crinkles are one of the best I’ve eaten. The coffee and deep dark chocolate flavor combo creates a complex eating experience, with pockets of salty surprise scattered inside the cookies. To say that I gained a new appreciation for chocolate crinkles after eating these would be an understatement. I’ve never paid much attention to crinkles because I feel like they’re one of the most easily accessible cookies around. I even used to have a classmate who sold crinkles for some extra pocket money, so I guess you could say that growing up, crinkles were always pretty much a norm of my youth. They were something yummy and familiar, but not really something that excited me, if you...

Day 17, Kitchen Quarantine, Apple Cider Doughnut Cake

Although spring is upon us here in San Diego, I really do love a cup of spiced hot cider any time of the year.  The other day while trolling the internet, I found a recipe for Apple Cider Doughnut Cake---who could resist?  The original recipe had you basically making apple sauce, so I tweaked it a bit, and then I made a glaze for it, since the best donuts have a glaze, and voila!  I'm continuing my adventures in sourdough, and just pulled two lovely loaves out of the oven.  I'm sold, and so is Dr. C.  More on that in another blog post.  For now, enjoy this cake. Apple Cider Doughnut CakeMakes one 9-inch bundt1/2 cup unsalted butter1/2 cup sugar3/4...
