believe it or not you can still find a few places with michigan strawberries available! it’s so rare this late in the season (they’re typically done by june) but with the cold and wet june we had here a lot of things are slower to ripen and pop up...

i made this cake earlier this summer but decided it was too good not to share. the combination is a mix of my favorite magnolia bakery recipes (the original bakeshop in NYC not the waco one) i remember the first time I had their buttercream frosting. it was a hot october day and I was visiting my former college roomie in NYC. We sat on a bench waiting in line for the improve theater to open sharing cupcakes. I took my first bite of the vanilla buttercream and was overcome with an instant sugar rush. it was the best buttercream frosting i’ve ever had. August Diary: Promises I'm Making Myself

Saturday:  It's late in Shabat, just two hours more to have the full extent of the day of rest.  Today began early.  I stepped out on the porch to feed the pets and looked at the sun rising and sang "Shema".   That I remember the Hebrew after all these years away from synagogue, that these words come easily still at the sight of daybreak, astounds me: Shema, Israel, Adonai Eloheinu, Adonai echad. Hear O Israel, the Lord is our G-d, the Lord is One... Visiting the beach is a must in the summer, but it also means you’re going to be bringing back tons of sand

Here are a few things you can do to help keep sand from getting tracked in and around your RV. Camping by the beach, never a bad idea. Find one with soft bristles like this sand brush or a better quality (though pricier) horsehair brush with a sturdy wooden handle. Brush off all your items like your camping chair and beach bag before storing them away.
